MLP exists to make engineering more accessible, bringing engineering, manufacturing, robotics, research, and technical education together under one organization.

00Our story

MLP began with a shared passion for building robots. What started as a small group of friends designing and competing in combat robotics quickly became something bigger. Through designing, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, and competing, we experienced firsthand both the excitement of engineering and the many barriers that keep people out of the field: access to equipment, mentorship, manufacturing resources, funding, and hands-on experience.

Many incredible ideas never move beyond a notebook, not because they're impossible, but because the people behind them lack the resources or support to build them. Rather than accept those barriers, we decided to build an organization that helps remove them.

Today, MLP is an engineering and technology organization dedicated to advancing technology by empowering people to build it, bringing engineering, manufacturing, robotics, research, and technical education together in one place.

Six pillars, one organization.

Engineering, manufacturing, robotics, research, education, and community, brought together so students, hobbyists, startups, researchers, and businesses can design, prototype, test, and manufacture in one place.

Robotics

Where MLP began, and still one of our greatest passions.

Combat robotics and hands-on engineering projects built our practical experience in mechanical design, electronics, and controls. Robotics remains an accessible platform for learning, experimentation, and innovation.

Research & Development

Paused, relaunching as our team grows.

Our R&D team pursues ambitious engineering ideas spanning robotics, automation, AI, embedded systems, and advanced manufacturing. It's temporarily paused while we grow the team, and will relaunch once we have more members.

STEM Education

Workshops, funding, and the MLP Rookie program.

We run hands-on workshops, offer funding opportunities, and operate the MLP Rookie program to give newcomers real, practical engineering experience, because the best way to learn is by building real projects.

Function over decoration

Whether it's a part or a paragraph on this site: if it doesn't serve a purpose, it goes. Products are designed around what they must do, not how they'll photograph.

Trade-offs, stated plainly

Every engineering decision costs something. We tell you what you're trading (strength for weight, cost for tolerance, speed for finish) before you commit, not after.

Respect for constraints

Manufacturing constraints aren't obstacles to design around; they're the physics of making real things. Designs that respect them ship on time and work.

Competence through clarity

We don't claim to be state-of-the-art. We describe our process, name our materials, publish our tolerances, and let the work carry the argument.
